Hang it.

A great couple of exhibitions in the Spring and Summer.

Firstly at Gloucester Cathedral and then at St Michael's Without in Bath. This year the Cathedral hadn't double booked which made hanging so much easier. Great footfall, many conversations. Even more so in Bath. With the coffee shop in the church, surrounded by the exhibit, it lead to a greater interest for those who had just wandered in for refreshment.
At Gloucester I hung the new 'A New Commandment' based on the Pride Flag and then the idea was developed for Bath with 'A10 Pride' based on the story of Peter's vision of inclusion in Acts 10. I haven't put any images of them on the website but you may be able to see them in these general photos of the hanging.

Inside Out In Gloucester

We've had our last meeting before we set up our 2018 Exhibition in Gloucester Cathedral. Rotas made, space sorted, work (almost) complete. There's some exiting new pieces from the whole team. each of us pushing ourselves in to new areas of challenge and exploration. As usually we're really excited about the glorious setting of the Gloucester Cathedral Cloisters, although this year we'll remember to wrap up warm. Although we are nearer to the cafe than before.

There was a small panic over dates as we were originally to run until 21st May but a 'big' film company wants the space and have bought us out...well they're paying the Cathedral...as we get the space for free I don't suppose we'll see a penny.

I'm still chasing the elusive abstract. But they make me feel good. Some form of internal regurgitation. I find it easier than words.

Seriously. I'm terrible at this blogging thing. I suppose I need some sort of fixed time so I blog every day, or at least every week. But hat sounds organised and I do enough of that (badly) for other things.
I will try! (maybe)
But suffice to say I'm in the period of preparation for summer and spring exhibitions.
Just a day in Dursley on 14 th July. But before that Inside Out have just over a week (10th - 21st May) in Gloucester Cathedral Cloisters - Harry Potter World! Which is very soon!
Then we're off to Bath (7th - 17th August) to exhibit in St Michael's Without.
Back to Dursley for the second year of the Tyndale Arts Trail on 7th -10th October.
I'll try and keep everyone up to date with how all this goes. I've got two new works finished and another three nearing the end. So along with some old faithfuls it should be a good summer season.

New Works (Just in time)

I know we're hanging tomorrow for the exiting new Tyndale Arts Trail but I thought I'd wait until today to get some new pictures finished. 'Autumn Rose' was conceived last week and completed today.  Based on a rose at the end of it's season. Life progresses endlessly as we live it, in and out of season. It is not always clear who, what or where we are.

The other new work is an as yet Untitled piece which I started in London back in 2013 or so but I only finished (I think) today. It's a return to an approach that I have enjoyed before but never really experimented with or developed but it's one I really like.

I hope you like.

Each is 50x50cm, Acrylic on block canvass.

Really pleased to say that I'll be part of this new venture

For the first time in the Dursley area, a group of artists have come together to organise an annual arts week to showcase the best work from local artists and makers including painters, photographers, sculptors and those who work in textiles, ceramics, glass, mosaics and much more.

The work will be exhibited in a collection of shared venues in and around the town.

My work will be at The Methodist Church - which sort of makes sense as I work there.

As an apology for being away so long here's a picture of a little lamb. (Give the people what they want!)

Long time gone

Life throws curve balls (whatever they are; I've heard Americans say it). And time flies. So apologies to those avid followers of mine who have been wondering where I've gone. You don't need to know.
Anyway I'm back.
The 'Inside Out' Exhibition at the Gardens Gallery in Cheltenham was well received and then the short hop over to Gloucester Cathedral wasn't without it's complications but all worked out well and we had great footfall through the Harry Potter inspired cloisters. That was way back in April/May and it was really quite cold.

Gardens Gallery Exhibition Open

We had an excellent opening day for Inside-Out Gloucester's exhibition at the Gardens Gallery in Cheltenham. We're there until Monday 24th April then were off to Gloucester Cathedral for the Bank Holiday weekend.
Two painters, two textile artists and two stone carvers; excellent.
At Gloucester I'm hoping to be doing some live painting in the cloisters.

'I am' finished

My latest work 'I am' is finished. It has gone through a series of developments taking bereavement as a central theme, it started out as Mourning Into Dancing - which I will go back to at some point. 'I am' has grown into a more specifically Christ centred image; still with bereavement as it's core. The clouded mistiness of the moment of death is transformed by a new reality held and coloured by something greater than our loss.

'I am' will be shown as part of an exhibition in Cheltenham and Gloucester in the next couple of weeks. I'm off today to start hanging alongside five other artists that make up 'Inside Out Gloucester'. It will be seen alongside 'Storm' and my other new piece 'Wing'.
